USD in ultimul trimestru, in scadere cu 90% fata de anul precedent.

Amazon (US.AMZN) started the Prime Day 2022 holiday event last week with some promotions aimed at supporting small businesses. The main event takes place on July 12-13
The firm also reminded that Prime Day has been a core driver to incremental Prime Membership adoption, which is called an important factor considering the over 200M Prime members spend 2X to 3X more per year on average than non-members.
Analyst Brent Thill: "We estimate that Prime Day will contribute $8.1B to GMV and $4.7B to Net Sales, which represents a 6%/4% tailwind to 3Q22 GMV/Sales growth. We see Prime Day helping to boost Prime adoption, especially in international markets, which have lower membership penetration and 3 new countries participating in 2022 Prime Day."
Jefferies has a AMZN slotted with a Buy rating and price target of $163 (39% upside potential).
A retailer with a large presences on Amazon Marketplace that has done well in the past during Prime Day is Yeti Holdings (US.YETI). Playing defense against Amazon, retail giant Target (US.TGT) has already set its Target Deal Days event for July 11-13, and Walmart (US.WMT) is expected to announce its own Deals for Days sales event for July.
Stocks have fallen this year in the face of rising interest rates. With inflation showing little sign of cooling, many investors fear corporate earnings could be the marketâs next support to fall. The S& P 500 (DE.SXR8) has dropped 18% in 2022, its worst start to a year since 1962, as the Federal Reserve embarks on a rate-rising campaign to bring down four-decade-high inflation. The tightening of monetary policy has trampled on the rich valuations stocks carried at the start of the year, leaving earnings growth as a key pillar for the market to regain its footing. But recent days have cast doubt on the durability of corporate profit growth, further darkening the outlook for stocks. Companies from Target Corp. (US.TGT) to Microsoft Corp. (US.MSFT) have warned that their results will be lower than expected, while analysts have trimmed earnings forecasts across industries. Investors will get further clarity next month when companies begin reporting their results for the second quarter.
The âMad Moneyâ host, who the day before advised investors to buy the dip only on oil stocks, said that Targetâs (US.TGT) news suggests that inflation is peaking. This opens up the door for investors to buy stocks that were previously untouchable in a high interest rate environment, he said. Listing ServiceNow (US.NOW), Broadcom (US.AVGOF) and Salesforce (US.CRM) as names that are more attractive after Targetâs news, Cramer said heâs still staying away from retail stocks short-term. He also warned investors that this change in the market could go away as fast as it came, due to the economyâs volatility.

Stocks fell on Tuesday after Target (US.TGT) issued a warning about its current quarterâs profits, stoking fears of a potential recession. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DE.SXRU) slid 265 points, or 0.8%. The S& P 500 (DE.DXR8) dropped 0.8%, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 1.1%. Target shares fell more than 6% after the retailer announced plans to work down excess inventory. The company said it will implement additional markdowns to products and cancel some orders. Target also lowered its operating margins guidance for the quarter. Walmart (US.WMT) shares followed Target lower, sliding 2.5%. Major retailers have delivered mixed results and outlooks in recent weeks, adding to stock market volatility as investors try to determine if they signal the start of a potential recession or a rapid change in consumer spending.
Target (US.TGT) warned investors Tuesday that its profits will take a short-term hit, as it marks down unwanted items, cancels orders and takes aggressive steps to get rid of extra inventory. The retailer slashed its profit margin expectations for the fiscal second quarter to account for a wave of goods winding up deeply discounted or on the clearance rack. Shares fell more than 9% in premarket trading following the news. Retailers from Walmart (US.WMT) to Gap (US.GPS) face a glut of inventory as inflation-pinched shoppers skip over categories that were popular during the first two years of the pandemic. Gap, for instance, said customers want party dresses and office clothes instead of the many fleece hoodies and active clothes the company has. Walmart said some families are making fewer discretionary purchases as the prices of gas and groceries rise. Abercrombie & Fitch (US.ANF) and American Eagle Outfitters (US.AEO) both reported a steep jump in inventory levels, up 46% and 45%, respectively, from a year ago from a mix of items not selling and supply chain delays easing.
In April, the U.S. personal savings rate fell to 4.4%, the lowest since September 2008, according to data from the Commerce Department published Friday. "In fact, it is actually our baseline forecast for the saving rate to fall below its prior-cycle average of 7.2% through the end of 2023." In April 2020, the savings rate hit a record 33.8% as government checks hit consumer bank accounts and the spread of Covid-19 kept many people at home and businesses closed.
Earlier this month, earnings reports from Walmart (US.WMT) and Target (US.TGT) spooked investors, with slowing sales and ballooning inventories at these retail giants perhaps suggestive of a consumer environment that was eroding rapidly. Subsequent reports from other retailers and strong signals from the travel sector, however, have allayed some of these fears about an imminent pullback in consumer spending.
As JetBlue (US.JBLU) told investors earlier this week, the "demand environment continues to be strong" with sales in June set to be "meaningfully better" than what was seen in April and May. At the same time, as discount retailers like Dollar General (US.DG) and Dollar Tree (US.DLTR) suggested earlier this week, consumers have become more "intentional" in where and how they spend money â particularly when it comes to essentials like food and grocery items.
Among the challenges, Target said profits got hit by inventory that arrived too early and too late, compensation and head count that rose at distribution centers, and a mix of merchandise sales that looked different than before.
The companyâs net income in the quarter fell to $1.01 billion, or $2.16 per share, from $2.1 billion, or $4.17 per share, a year earlier. Excluding items, Target earned $2.19 per share, 88 cents short of the $3.07 expected by analysts surveyed by Refinitiv. Those adjusted earnings per share dropped sharply â down nearly 41% from the year-ago period. Total revenue rose to $25.17 billion from $24.20 billion a year ago, above analystsâ expectations of $24.49 billion.
Markets returned to heavy selling after two back-to-back quarterly reports from Target and Walmart stoked investor fears of rising inflation taking a bite out of corporate profits and consumer demand. Itâs the fifth Dow decline of more than 800 points this year, which all occurred as the stock sell-off intensified within the last one month.
Target (US.TGT) shares tumbled 24.9% Wednesday after the retailer reported first-quarter earnings that were much lower than Wall Street estimated because of higher costs for fuel and compensation. Walmart (US.WMT) shares ended Tuesday lower by 11%. They dropped another 6.8% on Wednesday. Other retailers took a hit on the back of Targetâs quarterly earnings miss â with the SPDR S& P Retail ETF falling 8.3%. Amazonâs (US.AMZN) stock price dropped 7.2%, and Best Buyâs stock price fell 10.5%. Dollar Generalâs fell 11.1%, and Dollar Treeâs declined 14.4%. Shares of Macyâs dropped 10.7%, while shares of Kohlâs fell 11%.
The Stoxx Europe 600 (DE.EXSA) index of the continentâs largest companies opened 1.1 per cent lower, with markets in London, Frankfurt and Paris all under pressure. The falls followed a 4 per cent drop for the US S& P 500 (DE.SXR8) share index on Wednesday, the biggest one-day decline since June 2020, with 98 per cent of the stocks in the benchmark slipping.
The US retailer Target (US.TGT) led the declines on Wednesday, plunging 25 per cent after warning that its profit margins were under pressure, a day after its larger rival Walmart (US.WMT) issued a similar alert. Both retailers have notched their worst daily stock falls since 1987 this week.
Shares in US tech groups also suffered on Wednesday, with Apple (US.AAPL), Nvidia (US.NVDA) and Amazon (US.AMZN) all dropping more than 5 per cent while the Nasdaq Composite index closed down 4.7 per cent.
