The fitness company is targeting potential investors including industry players and private-equity firms that could take a stake of around 15% to 20%, according to people familiar with the matter.
Peloton’s value has fallen from a high of around $50 billion early last year to around $5.6 billion this week. The shares lost around 9% Thursday amid a broader market rout.The company in early February replaced its chief executive and unveiled plans to cut 2,800 jobs in a bid to boost its valuation, which at the time was around $8 billion.
Concerned that some of the forces that have propelled tech ever upward have begun to fade, investors have sent share prices for a number of companies, including Lyft Inc. Even as some tech companies have faced a withering season, the job market has remained strong in the U.S., with no broad signs of a hit from a tech slowdown. Employers added 428,000 jobs in April—the 12th month of gains above 400,000—and the unemployment rate remained at 3.6% U.S. gross domestic product fell at a 1.4% annual rate in the first quarter.
Starting June 1, Peloton equipment owners will pay $44 a month, up from $39, for access to metrics and subscriptions to live-streaming and on-demand classes that connect with their bikes and treadmills. The $12.99 monthly fee to access courses that aren’t connected to equipment won’t change. 
  Meanwhile, it is dropping the price of bikes and treadmills. Peloton bikes will start at $1,445 including a $250 shipping fee, down from $1,745 including shipping. Treadmills will start at $2,695 including a $350 shipping fee, down from $2,845 including shipping.
Peloton’s new Chief Executive Barry McCarthy has only been at the helm of the connected fitness company for about a month, but he’s already testing ways to make the business more profitable. 
On Friday, the company will start testing a new pricing system, where customers pay a single monthly fee for both their workout equipment and for access to on-demand fitness classes. 
The test will run for a period of time in Texas, Florida, Minnesota and Denver, for monthly fees ranging between $60 and $100 a month.
