Global wind and solar growth on track to meet climate targets (FR.NRJ) (DE.EXH9) (DE.IQQH)
Independent climate think tank Ember said in a report on Wednesday that if the 10-year average growth rate of 20% to 2030 continues, the growth of solar and wind power will be enough to limit global warming to 1.5C. In 2021, global solar power generation will increase by 23%, while wind power generation will increase by 14% in the same period. The two renewables together account for 10.3% of total global electricity generation, up 1% from 2020, according to Ember.
